What is an Augmentation Mammoplasty?

Who is a good candidate for a rhinoplasty?    

        

The likelihood of you meeting someone who has already had a rhinoplasty is very high. According to American statistics, it is the third most popular cosmetic surgery, with more than 200,000 patients undergoing it per year.

 

The identification of the correct candidate for a rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult acts in Plastic Surgery. Not only due to the difficulty of a static and dynamic aesthetic evaluation, the construction of an appropriate therapeutic plan for each case and the expectations of each patient, but above all due to the psychological component. In our clinic, all rhinoplasty candidates are not evaluated by our plastic surgeon, Dr. Sofia Santareno, but also by our psychology team, Dr. Filipa Jardim da Silva or Dr. Débora Bento Correia. It is useless to have an aesthetic and functionally beautiful nose if the mind is not prepared to receive it. It is an irreversible and permanent change. Regarding the ideal age from which a rhinoplasty can be performed, maturity of the bone and cartilage structure of the nose and face is necessary, a situation that occurs at least at 17 years of age.

Types of Mammoplasty Scars

Used when the patient also undergoes a reduction in the size of the areolas (periareolar mastopexy).

It is the most used in augmentation mammoplasty, as it is hidden in the natural fold of the breast. It is proven to be associated with a lower risk of prosthesis infection and capsular contracture.  It may be possible to breastfeed if there is no interference with the ducts.

Ideal for those who want a fuller neckline on the upper pole.
It is not necessarily associated with the "prosthesis or ball" effect on the neckline, and sometimes it needs to be placed partially behind the muscle.

Ideal for those who have no breasts (or almost none) or in cases of breast reconstruction after mastectomy for cancer.

When the prosthesis is placed behind the mammary gland, under a  fascia of the pectoralis major muscle . It is the ideal plan for those who have good tissues that allow the upper part of the prosthesis to be camouflaged, or for sportswomen with very developed pectoral muscles and who do not accept muscle detachment. 
As it is a plan where prostheses with a micropolyurethane coating are preferably used, it offers some advantages: it does not require the use of drains and lymphatic drainage, with an ultra-fast recovery.   It is also ideal for patients who accept a cleavage with a little padding in the upper pole.

In this plane, the upper half of the prosthesis is protected by the pectoralis major muscle, while the lower half is in contact with the mammary gland. this shape, you can opt for a more projected prosthesis (round or anatomical) without the "ball" effect at the top of the neckline. In addition, over time, a more natural process of implant fall occurs.
